What is Birth and Postpartum Doula Care?

In working with me as your birth or postpartum doula, you can expect friendly and informed care. We start with prenatal visits, meeting an average of 2-3 times before your delivery to ask questions, plan preferences, clarify and add to your child birth education, and teach you coping techniques for labor.

I am on-call starting at 37 weeks gestation and attend your birth at the space and facility of your choosing. Some people have their doulas labor at home with them before going to a hospital or birth center. I can meet you at your place or the facility if you plan to birth out of your home.

I provide continuous education, emotional, physical, and spiritual support during labor and immediately postpartum. I am trained and experienced as a lactation educator and can ensure trouble shooting for your first latch is as painless as possible. Once baby and parents are settled, I help clean up and head home. I check in with you 2-3 days after the birth and again at 3-6 weeks postpartum with a longer visit to check in on life with baby.

Postpartum care is scheduled in 4 hour blocks and can take place during the day or overnight and provide you with additional support, education, nutrition for both parents and baby, and baby care troubleshooting. I have a passion for working with queer and neurodivergent families, as learning how to live with baby, ups and downs in hormones, and establishing changing routines while proactively managing mental health challenges is key to thriving with new babies.

As your doula, I work to help you experience care that is individualized, safe, healthy, and equitable. I bring my heart, education, passion, and humor to this work. It is my sincerest privilege to partner with you as your doula.
